Marital Dissolution

A variety of financial elements can greatly affect how favorable a marital dissolution settlement will be for all the parties involved. If clients do not examine all pertinent aspects of a divorce, a settlement that may appear fair could actually be quite inequitable.  In each divorce, both parties must decide, either by a mutual decision or a court ruling, how the financial elements of the relationship will be separated. Divorces and their settlements often bring about questions regarding:

  • the fair valuation of property or a business,

  • the marital status of assets,

  • the allocation of alimony or child support,

  • hidden income and/or assets, and
  • consideration of double-counting income and assets.
